Georgina Nix (b. 2000) is a British painter based in South London. Working primarily in thin layers of oil on board, she arranges lamps, glass, flowers and fruit as quiet metaphors for connection, distance and relational dynamics. Each composition acts as a psychological study, capturing the tension between intimacy and independence, observation and confession.
Recent works combine lived experience with found text, such as pages from the 1920s book Everybody’s Best Friend, using these fragments of advice and social expectation to explore how emotion is performed and understood across time.
In her practice, Nix paints from life, often racing against time as flowers wilt, candles burn and daylight shifts. She treats each arrangement as a conversation between objects, light and the emotional undercurrents that shape them. Her still lifes move between harmony and unease, revealing how care, longing and attachment can be portrayed through inanimate vessels.
Nix studied Fine Art at Winchester School of Art, graduating in 2022. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions including Childhood at The Winchester Gallery (2025) and at the Mall Galleries (2016).
